Carrying Out My Game Plan

To carry out my Game Plan one goal I have is to collaborate with colleagues and seek professional development opportunities that explore real world learning experiences to students using technology. The other goal is utilizing technology to meet the diverse learning styles of my students. Both of my goals are important in helping students achieve skills needed for 21st century careers.

A step that I have taken to meet my goal is to sign up for a conference at the end of February. This conference focuses on using podcasts, blogs, and wikis and other technology tools to improve student learning. If approved by my administration I will be able to expand my knowledge to enhance content lessons using technology. I am also beginning to do inclusion with the computer technology teacher, starting this week. This will give me a better understanding on how to incorporate technologies to meet needs of my students.

  1. Greg,
Your computer technology teacher is probably a wealth of cool ideas and neat tricks for use in your classroom. I have learned more useful information from our computer teacher than any other single person. It takes some time to adapt the new techniques to your classroom, but they are well worth it.

  2. I am excited to have the opportunity this semester to work with the computer technology teacher. I hope to gain new techniques and strategies to implement with my own students.

  3. Hi Greg,

I really enjoyed rading your blog entry about carrying out your GAME plan. I also like the design of your blog page:-)

Anyway, we have some webinars coming up in the next two months focusing on web 2.0 tools in the classroom, and I will be participating in those. You mentioned if your administration approvs of your conference....how does that work in your school district? Normally, we are approvd for any professional time we request so I was wondering if it was different in your district?

It's great that you have a technology teacher in your school, we do not because of budget cuts, but I am hoping that we are able to have one next year as well. We have a smartlab in our school with 14 computers, but noone in there to help out because the math coach that used to do everything in the smartlab just got promoted to assitant vice principal at another school.

Good luck in carrying out your plan, I wish you and your students mch succss.

  4. Greg-

I also have signed up to attend a work shop regarding the use of technology in the classroom. I am interested to see the similarities and differences between the workshop and what we are learning here at Walden. I would imagine there will not be much of a difference as using technology in the classroom is generally accepted as being a positive.

I had a similar goal that you have in terms of using technology to help meet the needs of all students. After speaking with fellow educators in my building, it is amazing how many totally disagree with me! I am unsure of where the disconnect is...if it is something that the students can benefit from and help educate them, why wouldn't you want to utilize it?
